What is a boiler service?
An annual boiler service is an inspection of your boiler system designed to check for its safety, performance, and to reduce the risk of breakdowns and faults. A boiler service includes checking safety controls and the gas pressure and flow, as well as checking and cleaning the key components of your boiler system. Our heating engineer will then provide a service report.

Why book an annual boiler service?
There are 10 very good reasons to have an annual boiler service.
As an essential part of your home, your boiler provides heating and hot water on-demand to keep your household comfortable and running smoothly every day. Whilst an annual boiler service may seem like another extra expense, a boiler can become seriously dangerous if it is not properly maintained on a regular basis by a qualified Gas Safe registered heating engineer.
There is never a good time to have a faulty boiler and nobody wishes to take risks with gas in the home or suffer the inconvenience of being without heating and hot water. An annual boiler service is the best way to spot warning signs and avoid these problems.

Boiler Servicing – FAQ’s

How often should a boiler be serviced?
It is advisable to have a boiler service every year to ensure the safety and efficiency of your boiler and keep your home provided with heating and hot water. An annual boiler service by a Gas Safe heating engineer gives you peace of mind, and is often a requirement of the manufacturers warranty.
Who can do a boiler service?
A boiler service should only be completed by a Gas Safe Registered heating engineer. An approved engineer will have a Gas Safe Register identity card with a photo which they can present to you as proof of their credentials. Our boiler and heating engineers are all Gas Safe Registered.
How do I arrange a boiler service?
You can arrange a boiler service with Pro Plumbing over the phone or by submitting your details in the form below, and we will call you back. Either way, we will take your details, including the make and model of boiler, and agree a convenient time for one of our heating engineers to visit your home and complete the boiler service.
How long does a boiler service take?
A typical boiler service takes between 30 minutes and an hour, however, it may take longer depending on the type of boiler, when the boiler was last serviced and the amount of maintenance required. If our heating engineer identifies a fault, then there is of course time spent to identify the problem, and where required make adjustments or repairs.

Can a boiler service save money on energy bills and repairs?
Yes, it can. Keeping your boiler in a good state of repair reduces the risk of a fault going undetected and causing a breakdown. If a fault is spotted early and dealt with, it can minimise any further damage, which can significantly reduce the cost of repairs. It is also worth noting that a fault can reduce the efficiency of your boiler, resulting in increased energy consumption.
What is a Boiler Service Certificate?
A boiler service certificate is a document that proves that a boiler has been serviced by a Gas Safe registered engineer and is safe to use. It’s also known as a boiler certificate.
What’s included in a boiler service certificate?
- The date of the service
- The engineer’s details
- The property address
- A list of the appliances that were checked
- Any problems found and how they were fixed
- Whether the appliances passed or failed the tests
- The engineer’s signature and date
Landlord’s Gas Safety Certificates
As a landlord you are legally required to obtain an annual Gas Safety Certificate (CP12 Inspection Certificate). This inspection usually coincides with a boiler service completed by one of our Gas Safe registered heating engineers to confirm your boiler meets the required safety standard.
